MacroRisk Analytics is a division of the Center for Computationally Advanced Statistical Techniques (c4cast.com, Inc.). c4cast was founded in 1998 and incorporated the next year. Since then, our founders have been developing, testing, patenting, and implementing a range of diverse products and technologies. Currently, c4cast.com, Inc. holds eleven patents, and is the creator of MacroRisk Analytics, EconomicInvestor, StockRisk Wizard, DualBeta and other tools and services.

c4cast.com, Inc., was founded by a team of financial experts, statisticians, computer scientists, economists and econometricians, led by finance professors G. Michael Phillips, Ph.D. and the late M. Chapman Findlay, Ph.D. Over ten years ago, this group of innovative thinkers saw the potential of the Internet and the ability of new generations of computers to gather and process information in ways that had never before been possible. In the words of its mission statement, c4cast exists to give its customers “A Better Window on the Future.” One application of c4cast’s creative vision and computing power was in the world of investing.

With their backgrounds in economics and finance, our founders knew that many of the economic assumptions upon which commonly accepted investing strategies were based were simplistic, or even inaccurate. In 1999 they decided to actually test how the changing economy impacted stock prices. What they discovered was nothing short of incredible.

Eta® Analysis, the cornerstone of our investing platform, is the culmination of our years of academic research and consulting experience. Using technology that wasn’t available to the “founding fathers” of traditional investment analysis, we succeeded in explaining how the economy generally relates to investment values for assets, including stocks, mutual funds, and many indices. With this patented technology, we then created an analytical platform that gauges how current economic conditions can be expected to impact the short-term price fluctuations of individual investments and portfolios. Our result was the world’s first and only Investment Tools for a Changing Economy.

During our initial development phase, we rigorously back-tested our model using data from the ’70s and ’80s. This process revealed which set of economic variables produced the best “predictions” of subsequent stock prices. These are now our 18 MacroRisk Factors.

Since that time, we have continued to discover more applications for our patented technology, and have developed new ways to deliver our services to clients.
